50 Pence - Elizabeth II (5th portrait; Platinum Jubilee) - United Kingdom – Numista

Coin is still in circulation so a query as to why coin that is VF or below is worth less than it's face value as you can still spend it, noticed other coins still in circulation have their face value why not this one?

Hello 🤖

Without pictures, it will be very difficult for anyone to help you. Could you please post clear pictures of each side of your item?

Please note that this is an automatic message. Feel free to ignore if it is not relevant.

Some countries are like that and some countries (notably France) pin the Numista value to face value minimum. Example: N#6373  I've asked about this practice before but did not receive an answer.

Thank goodness I am not alone was sat here thinking errr I must have missed something????

But had I not also found other 50p's (UK) that regardless of their state of repair shall we say they are still listed at their current value I probably wouldn't have been sitting her wondering what's going on. Think there is a lack of consistency going on with them in the database 🤔

There should be indeed minimum thresholds depending on what is larger face value for monetised coins or metal value (more for bullion issues), if the Numista value is larger it can be displayed.
One problem with the face value though is that I can often get foreign valid coins for far under face and I usually care little about the FV unless they are larger ones (<4-5$).

That would be relevant I suppose to the country you are in, foreign coins to me are different, to each country a person is located in definition of foreign alters.

I'm UK so 50p in circulation is 50p regardless of condition.

But when the catalogue runs with 50p in circulation for some as 50p regardless of condition except the higher condition scores like say UC being more and others in circulation for less than 50p once it gets dirty and scratched, its still inconsistent.
