An echidna + a platypus...

You could joke with “what's the cross between an echidna and a platypus”…

But here's the interesting part, it's not just a joke anymore.

I saw this earlier today among the headlines at BBC:

https://www.bbc.com/news/articles/cw88ewqjxd1o

A jawbone belonging to an animal with traits of both of them was found in Australia and they nicknamed it “echidnapus”.

We have both the echidna and platypus on australian coins, but unfortunately we can't have this new critter on the circulating coins (it lived among the dinosaurs).

Thinking on that, why don't we also have koalas on the coins?

It'd be great to see it on a commemorative coin!

it is odd, that the koala only ever appear on NCLT  bullion coinage…🤔

A Koala got onto the student wildlife 50c, so not totally absent. N#3031
