Was this really struck at the US Mint?

Is there documentation that shows this as a US Mint medal?

I received a private message about this item. Here is a copy of my message back to them on this subject.

After review of the modification histories of the medals, it appears that a member cited a web page as his source for that information. Then it was carried on to the other pages. I will edit all the pages and remove the mint. I will leave the text but add that it is currently unverified.

 

Doing a search on google with quotations, I did find the web page that was originally listed as the source.

 

I also found the obituary for Wayne D Ashford the designer of the medals in which I think you will also find interesting.
