1921 U.S. Peace Dollar
These are scans of a peace dollar that my nana gave me for Christmas after my grandpa died in November. My grandpa was the coin collector. I would like some help to determine the grade and value of this coin. I have a copy of Coin World magazine (January, 2013) so I may be able to determine value if I can get an accurate grade. I was thinking AU-50 or AU-58 based on photos I have seen of other graded coins. Also, how much does it cost to get this coin graded by a professional grading company?
One coin dealer offered me $50.00 because he said it was worth double silver bullion melt value.
Let's see a scan of the actual coin...if you can place it on white paper it will give us a better idea of value. The blue background doesn't really allow us to get a proper idea of blemishes etc.

Thanks for the tip .. white paper. I will scan the 4 dollar coins when I get home after school tomorrow. I will post them here so you can see them. I have an all-in-one inkjet printer/scanner. Should that be okay to get a good image?

That'll be awesome, also could you place a rule on the paper for scaling purposes?
