Commemorative silver Ingots

7 berichten • 90 keer bekeken

I have acquired Two 5oz Commemorative silver Ingots and I am looking to authenticate the story I have with them. I will refer to these as the “Bunny Girls—1971 & 1972”

Originally there were six produced by Fred Rohde president of the Wellings Mint in Rexdale ,Ontario , Canada. Mr. Rohde’s distributed four of the coins to prominent people, (Mayor of Montreal , Drapo, Mayor of Chicago, and Mayor of L.A,& Hugh Hefner,) to test the market for possible manufacturing and distribution for further sales. He also gave one complete set to his personal driver in Northern Ontario, and as far as can be ascertained this is the only complete set of two in existence.

I am looking for a method to authenticate this story. Are there any archived record for the Wellings Mint and if so how would one access them. Any help would be greatly appreciated

Thank you M.A. Sams

Doing a search for “Wellings”  produces the following. You will need to read through them to see if they contain anything of value to you.

Here is a link to the mint on Numista. It will provide links to other items produced by Wellings Mint

Thanks . I went through the 98 items in the NUMISTA  catalog  but they were only coins or medals , no Ingots listed. I will keep looking. I have heard the Frankin purchased the Welling Mint. I will look in that direction.

Probably won't help. Franklin Mint went out of business 20 years ago.

I was not sure when ,but I knew they went out in the early 2000's. My only hope is to possibly find archived items some place. Thank for your info
