Items drastic decrease

I just notice the number of items went from 3153 on 12/9 to 2839 on 12/10, a difference of 314. I know I did not delete 314 coins in that span so what gives here? I have been moving a lot over to swap lately but that should not affect the cumulative total, should it?

Depends on where you got those numbers from and what filters you use (discrepancies most often come from filter settings).

According to your collection you own 3319 coins (2087 not for swap and 1232 for swap).

All items 3348 items (2096 not for swap 1252 for swap). Is there anything in your collection journal for that time frame?

Looking in the time frame from 12/9-12/11 I only have one add and a swap add that was preceded by a swap drop that I can't quite explain because I never remember it being chosen or unchosen for a swap. That makes 1 add during that time period . The rest were changes from no exchange to exchange.

Furthermore, I just noticed in the journal that I added 34 coins from 12/14-12/15 and yet the amount (items) stayed the same.

You moved 314 items out of your collection to swaps, it is even visualized so I don't know where the confusion came from.

Something that you want to get rid of is not part of your collection … so to answer your first question yes it affects the number of your collection. But the number at the top of that page with the graph (with filters set to all) should stay the same.

Part of the confusion is that this “Items” 

is not the same as this "items"

The first does not include those for swap while the second does include those for swap.  Also, it usually takes overnight for that graph to update while the My collection numbers at the top update instantly.  You haven't seen a drastic decrease.
