Greek coin - AMISOS ?

3.80 g. 18.65 mm

What about this coin. It seems that I read AMI-SOU on the reverse, with 2 letters underneath. But what is represented on the reverse? A club with a leonte? It does not look like this. What is the strange hairdo on the person on the obverse?

I can't find this coin.

Thanks

The portrait at obverse is clearly young Dionysos (after looking other Amisos coins here).

For the reverse… will need to look with calm at home.

Surely it is not yet here since we have only two dichalkons under Amisos here, and they look nothing like this.

The item on the reverse is a https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Thyrsus, clearly associated with Dionysos.

This one was easier than expected to find online.

It's not on Wildwinds, but when I searched in a certain online store, they have 5 of this type available:

https://www.cgbfr.com/pont-amisos-chalque-ttb,bgr_822250,a.html

https://www.cgbfr.com/pont-amisos-unite-ttb,bgr_965108,a.html

https://www.cgbfr.com/pont-amisos-unite-ttb,bgr_884883,a.html

So we have:

Amisos

Chalkon (that part I'm not sure, chalkon or dichalkon due to size and weight)

During the reign of Mithridates VI

105 to 85 BC

Catalog number HGC 7 #251

As suspected, not on our catalog yet.

I did not know this item… Thanks a lot.

Thanks a lot Giobruno… It is great !!!
