Help identifying my first ancient coin please! *Updated Photos*

Super new to ancient coins and I have just acquired this coin and have no idea how to start identifying it. I am unsure if the weight but the coin is around 14.25mm if that helps. I know cleaning coins is a big NO, but didn’t know if there was anything else I should know in regards to care and preservation.  Thanks in advance for any information!

I think it will turn out to be this:

You can clearly make out the tau-rho and ANTB on the reverse.   The unbroken obverse legend on your coin normally indicates a junior emperor, and in this case although I cannot read the name, the number of characters suggest to me that it is Valentinian II.

First of all, welcome to the site, and to the world of the ancient coins.

Second, well done going so far with almost nothing visible. Purplexed, you got me perplexed again.

Apparently this Valentinian II type in specific is not on our database, but during my search I got what I think it can be another possibility: N#125847

The thing to note here is that on the coin you link to the legend is broken, i.e. split either side of Theodosius' head.  Whereas on the OP's coin the head is smaller and the legend is unbroken, which as I said above is an indication of it being a junior emperor.

Good point again.

Indeed, the variety with Valentinian (RIC 67A) have a smaller head than the variety with Theodosius (RIC 67B and C).

Soaked in distilled water and worked it with a toothpick. Coin is wet in the photograph as that allowed the letters to photograph better!

It looks like it must indeed be Theodosius with a broken legend, it is unusual for there to be so much space above the head with these, but that might have been an illusion given by the coin being double-struck.
