British Virgin Islands - coins or tokens?

Are the coins from BVI real?

They have used the US dollar since 1959, so why do they have these coins with different size than the US coins?

What's that 1 Royal thing? It surely doesn't have a face value

Because its a British territory. They don't use US dollars but they do use the dollar system.. So the coins don't have to be the same size as the American stuff because they aren't ment to circulate there although I wouldn't be suprised if they Do !
USD is their official currency and they don't have own banknotes, so I think it's the same as in Panama (currency called balboa for coins), Ecuador and East Timor (centavos).
Though, the East Timor coins also have different sizes, so probably nothing strange. But the Ecuador and Panama coins do have the same sizes as the US coins, so I thought this would have to be so.
Well, they were issued under the authority of the BVI, so even though they have a different currency in circulation they are valid coins.
It's the British Virgin Islands though, not American I'm pretty sure their coins will bear a portrait of the queen since it still is to this day a British territory, I would say that American money probably does circulate too but only through ease for tourists etc; in fact they might actually use the East Caribbean States currency..
Well there are the U.S. Virgin Islands, the British Virgin Islands, and the Spanish Virgin Islands. They all use the U.S. dollar. The Spanish Virgin Islands are now part of Puerto Rico.
It is, what it is, or is it.
