Mughal Coin Identification

I bought this Mughal coin recently and I’ve been trying to identify it and I’m having a really difficult time. I was wondering if anyone knew what this is exactly. The seller said it was a 1730 Rupee from Farrukhaba, but when I looked it up here on Numista I was having a hard time matching the details.

Welcome to Numista!

This is a silver rupee and the date of 1116 appears on the first photo about 1 o'clock, though the 6 is rotated about 90 degrees clockwise. The date of AH 1116 corresponds to about 1705 and is during the reign of Aurangzeb. Checking Krause and the Zeno database, it doesn't appear that Aurangzeb minted any silver rupees at Farrukhabad, so probably the mint is somewhere else. Hopefully another member will be able to provide a fuller attribution.

This is in the name of Muhammad shah, (top line left image) the confusing looking date has the 4th digit off flan and is  AH 114×,  regnal year 11 is visible and spans 1141/2, mint is completely off the flan but most likely is Surat.

Something about the coins wavy number 11 digits,  the weird way the number 4 is engraved on the date, and the fancy 6 point rosette tells me it's not an official Mughal rupee. Might be Maratha or local state copy

Thank you for the reply! I never knew about the Maratha/Local State Copies of Mughal coins. That's really interesting.

In the book "The coinage of the Bhonsla Rajas of Nagpur" it mentions that many thousands of rupees were struck there in the name of Muhammad Shah and with Surat mint, they are usually underweight and have various symbols on them, it's a possibility this may be something of that type or similar. If your coin is less than 11 gram then it is very likely one of these
