Hm… probably works for me because my settings for my wishes are “the coins/banknotes in my wish list but not those in the list of coins/banknotes I don't wish” and not just anything I don't own.
iceyandy999 is right you probably have the wish setting “the coins/banknotes which I'm missing and which are in my wish list, but not in the list of coins/banknotes I don't wish” or the one above.
The filter my collection is probably named unfortunately.
The last option would be for country collectors only seeing coins from issuers you don't have coins from
the 2nd to last for type collectors (this is probably you)
and the first after all for year and or variant collectors.
The coins I “officially” want are all USA Standard Circulation coin types and nothing else. The member in my post only has 68 USA coins. Where did the 2,052 other coins that may interest me come from? I can assure you that those numbers have no basis in reality.
I should probably clarify why I want to know what coins my interest the other person.
Some people have on their profile “only collect euros” or “only collect American” it would be useful to know whether I have anything they may be interested in before initiating a swap.
If the website can filter in one direction, I assumed it would be able to do it in both. if it cant it seems like that may be a useful feature to add but maybe this is a topic for Numista website forum instead of swaps

they are every other coin that the person has for swap that you don't own. for collectors such as yourself who have a specific preference on what you collect, you can filter by wish list. However, personally I collect circulation coinage from every country. it would be unfeasible to click “i wish” for this coin on every entry; that is why the general list exists.
it would be good if you could filter by coins “i wish” rather that “may interest” on the swaps page
This I want to see who wants my coins or what a specific person wants feature was suggested multiple times already but many people also don't want you to know what they want for privacy reasons (Gold colecotrs and high ballers etc.)
@rsirian1what is your setting on THIS page under Settings - I want to get… ?
If it is not the 3rd radio button you might want to change that if you have a Wish criterion like “all circulation USA coins” (but then you probably have to manually select "I don't wish" any US coin type you already have or have completed the years/variants you want).

ahh, guess I'm so far removed from this bracket I didn't even consider that as a possibility :)
This does seem like something that could be sorted with a settings preference though. Disable people viewing your collection is already an option in settings, it doesn't seem like it would be much work to link this to the swaps filter. And the location available on users is already vague (my location marker is more than 50 miles away from my address on the user map)

OK, did that and we're coming back into reality. Now it shows this:
Still the 68 coins but multiple year lines in 11 types.
I've been through all the FAQ's and it's explained as clear as mud. Thanks, makes more sense now.
