Subject: Unusual Bikanir State 1 Rupee Coin with Tiny "O" Under 'A' in "STATE" – Seeking Info
Hello,
I’m reaching out to share a very unusual variety of a Bikanir State 1 Rupee coin (Queen Victoria era) and would appreciate any insights from fellow collectors or experts.
Details of the Coin:
The coin features the standard "BIKANIR STATE" inscription.
Under close inspection, there is a tiny, clearly defined "O" located directly under the letter "A" in the word "STATE".
This mark appears intentional and struck, not post-mint damage, wear, or dirt. It's perfectly aligned and formed.
I have searched major databases (Numista, Zeno, PCGS, etc.) and haven’t found any reference to this variety.
The coin is mounted on a historic coin chain with other colonial-era coins (Travancore, British India, etc.), which suggests it may have had ceremonial or symbolic use.

My questions:
Has anyone seen this die mark or variety before?
Could it be a control mark, mint signature, or part of a special issue?
Could the chain it’s part of offer clues to its purpose (e.g., ceremonial, presentation piece, etc.)?
Any information or direction to a die variety catalog or princely state coin expert would be greatly appreciated.
