one of my russian friend sent coins to me, unfortunately their customs suspect this. may i know if the russian customs became stricter to find coins inside letter?

on the other hand in Bangladesh , it is also prohibited, still people able to send 10-20 coins as if menttioned as letter, souvenir ,postcard in customs paper CN22. they hardly open.

any opinion about this?

Oh man!, this is one of my fears.

That does appear to be a lot of coins for a single letter to me. I wonder if it was just too heavy or they could somehow tell what was inside through the envelope and the person who handled it got suspicious? What ever happened I'm sorry, that's horrible luck and I truly hope that your friend is not in any kind of trouble and hopefully soon you can get your coins back!

That friend told me, if he get my mail, he will send it back to me. Bad luck for me and him. I spent 450 taka, that friend spent like 800+ roubles.

I guess now i have to avoid Russia for sometime.

Only 14 coins…. so basically customs guy was in bad mood.It happens worldwide ..

That is problem now in all countries. In India we can till now complain and yell though no one now listens  but in Russia maybe that freedom is not there..

We have  to start union of coin collectors and perhaps ask US university students to demonstrate  free collectors from harassmentJ

Here in the US  I have had coins and currency confiscated on both the US and russian sides of customs. As well as shipping and receiving. The Russian sellers have all said the problem here has been since the US changed customs policy last year. For now no one I know is mailing in or out of Russia to USA.

US shipping increased ridiculously. Also became stricter. In Bangladesh it is considered as one of cheapest postal service. But we face problems since september 2023. New authorities are not hobby friendly.  They imposed heavy tax like 4000 tk (30-35$~, any amoint coin), and whoever trying to send coins are sent back. So most of our local dealers started purchasing lots about 4-5 kg. Even if they pay 4000 tk. Thts not much affect on price
