Looking for recommendations on moving companies

I’m getting ready for a move and started researching different moving services. There seem to be tons of options, and it’s tough to figure out which ones are reliable. Has anyone had experience with ThreeMovers or another company you’d suggest? Appreciate any advice!

I would ask around locally, who can you trust? Does your town/city have a Chamber of Commerce? 

I would select a company who has a great reputation rather than the least expensive.  My wife chose an inexpensive, fly-by-night mover & she paid them their low rate & then they held her furniture for ransom until she paid them an extra fee. We later found out that many movers are very shady & resort to this tactic.

The last company I used was Crown Relocation. They were incredible. They disassembled furniture, packed everything with care and cleaned up. We did absolutely nothing. At our new home they reassembled the furniture,  and again cleaned up. They will not be the cheapest, but you won't need to do anything.

Instead of just "ThreeMovers or another," you'll get better results by asking in local spaces:

Nextdoor or your local Facebook community group: "Looking for recommendations for a reliable mover from [Your City] to [New City]. Who did you have a great experience with?" This will yield hyper-local, recent referrals.

Reddit: Check your city's subreddit (e.g., r/AskNYC, r/Chicago) or r/moving for very candid advice.

My Final Advice

Start this process as early as possible. Good movers book weeks, sometimes months, in advance, especially during peak season (May-September). Once you narrow it down, trust your gut. If a company is difficult to communicate with during the estimate process, it will likely be worse on moving day.
