Help Identify this for me

My father found this in upstate New York by the old hospital in Waterloo. It looks like a medallion Christopher Columbus Discoverer 1492.

My father says it also has a date of 1893 from the world's fair, but I did not see it. but the back is blank. Please look at it and see you have any info on it who made it where it came from and is it worth anything.

Sincerely

MF Bell

Thanks for your reply but as I said there is nothing on the other side it is blank , flat. the question is ? Is this a commemorative type medallion for the world's fair in 1893 ? I need to know where it came from and who made it.
