Hi all,

I have a friend who is looking to sell a Queen Victoria Diamond Jubilee Proof Coin Set in the original box. It's a valuable set and I'm looking for advice on the best way to get a good cash offer for it? Photos below. Thanks in advance.

You would need to give more information about each individual coin, the year specifically. The Jubilee head was minted for 6 years I think. Also which coins are in the set, Shilling, Crown, half, 1 Pence, 2 Pence (then making it a Maundy set), also images of reverse of the coins.
The sets sell for 200 - 1200, even more if it is a rare set.

Or if you want the best value go to a coin dealer, they will give you between 60-80% of its value that they believe they can sell it for. That is how things work, everyone takes a cut.

Some more photos of the coins and set. This set is the Golden Jubilee Proof  seven coin set, NOT the Diamond Jubilee as previously stated.

When I asked for more details, I meant for each individual coin? One extra photo showing the reverse doesn’t help much, having said that, from that extra image I can work out which 7coins they are. For some of these 7 coins, there are different varieties or errors (I don’t know if these appear on the proof issues), of which (according to the Numista pages) there were about 1000 or less with the 1887 date.

My advice now would be to not handle the coins any more and contact the Royal Mint directly, they have a good buy and resale policy. They may be able to get you the best price.

Or you could sell them to me 😉

Numista policy prohibits sales.

Thanks @TCon but I was just asking for information and any ideas on value.

This looks like a solicitation all day long.

Is it an actual date set or a type set ?? either way it is the short set of circulating coins the really valuable is the long set including the maundy set and the gold set. There are also the variants of the sixpence and shilling plus the colonial groat

Thanks @Offa for the info.

I actually took it to a dealer yesterday and got a great price for it, so I'm very pleased.

All the best.

How much then I can gauge what my long set will go for

@Offa I got £5k for the set so I guess it must have been valued at around £6k

Thanks.
