Mardi Gras token

Hello! I am trying to determine the relative frequency of this Mardi Gras token.

The token was issued by the Krewe of Nemesis (New Orleans) for the 1970 Mardi Gras, with the theme “Around the World with Dances”.

Specifications:

– Diameter: 39 mm

– Thickness: 2.4 mm

– Weight: 21.33 g

– Calculated density: approx. 8.85 g/cm³

– Metal: nickel silver (German silver / Neusilber)

I would appreciate any information regarding mintage figures, distribution, or relative scarcity of this specific issue.

Greetings, Bansko.  I would say that it's worth 25 cents (US).   Here's a listing on eBay where someone is currently trying to sell an identical one for less than $4 (USD):  https://www.ebay.com/itm/204222126897

The eBay seller is of course trying to cover his eBay costs and yet make a small profit from the sale.  But this is not something that is particularly valuable in the marketplace.

I don't know the mintage for this one.  Since it dates back to 1970, it's possible that this piece was made by the "Barco Mint" in New Orleans which was later renamed to the "New Orleans Mint" (https://www.neworleansmint.com) and still exists today under the new name.

Thank you, TonyCoins, for your evaluation and for the information you provided, which will be helpful for further research. I understand your point regarding the current market value and the comparable eBay listing. My interest in this piece is not focused on its retail price, but rather on its origin, production details, and relative frequency. Your remark about a possible connection to Barco Mint / New Orleans Mint is particularly valuable and provides a clear direction for further archival and historical research. Thank you for taking the time to share your perspective.
