Can these two coins be considered different?

Discussie over Brandenburg-Pruisen, staat • 1 Schilling - Frederick William

Hi All, let's start the new year with a question regarding two coins of a shilling from Brandenburg (at least one).

At a first sight they might look as the same coin BUT if you look carefully there are some differences, both on Obverse and on Reverse.

The left one is quite similar to the one in the picture but dated 1655. You can read on the reverse + SOLIDUS . PR - USSIAE .1655 .  On obverse you can read FRID.WI(LH).MAR.BR.S.R.I.PR.EL

In the right one, unfortunately quite offset, as often happens for these coins, the first thing you can note is that it is undated infact on reverse what you can read is  + SOL... CIV ... SSIA (maybe SOLIDUS CIV PRUSSIA?). Also on obverse I think there is a difference because I can read FRID.WILH.MAR.BR.S.P.EL. and the eagle looks different

So the question is: KM263 should be dated 1653-1655, so the right undated one belongs to a different kind according also to the different writtings or KM263 includes this kind of coin too?

Thank you!

No idea from anyone?

When talking about specific coins always provide a link to the relevant catalog page(s).

KM#263 seems to contain only dated variants so I would guess it is not included there an not listed in KM.

Thanks Idolenz I didn't put the link because it was already in the title, let's see if someone can get some more contribution to identify the coin on the right 😊

Ah sorry you are totally right, no idea how I overlooked it.

I try to bring up the discussion hoping to get some contributes…

Thanks in advance

After a few months I update this discussion. Any idea for a correct attribution of the coin on the right?
