Post a picture (or 2+ if your collection is that big) of how your collection looks now! Here’s mine:

Having a mental breakdown over bronze disease

It would be several thousand photos. I have not had only 24 coins since early 1987.

I love coins. Especially silver, gold and anything really old.

I'm impressed by how neat and organised that part of your collection is! The albums look very professional.

My coins are scattered here, there & everywhere - some in boxes, some in albums, some in display cabinets, others in trays and 2x2s.

The cream of it sit in this bank vault

Rest is in albums or boxes, 12 major albums, 8 large tins of coins.

I am more impressed that the plastic rollers can sustain the weight.

In the past my world coins were just thrown into a small treasure box then housed in self-made cardboard boxes or plastic containers in 2x2s

Now they are in albums, most of my cast Japanese coins are still in a box

My bullion coins are in trays as well as the proofs

Perhaps it's just me, but I would never - ever make any photos of my collection, no matter what I collect. You'll just have to take my word that I'm a collector of things. 🙂

I take photos of mine for insurance purposes. So my guess is your collection is not big enough to be insured or you live in an area where it could be stolen easily (And again photos help).

Of course, it's understandable that an insurance company wants documentation (photos), but the cheapest insurance is when nobody knows what you've got.

then I have a few more in my closet. I strive to be organized; but with 11.2K coins, it can be hard to keep up ;)

Haha, yeah those plastic rollers are indeed engaged in some heavy lifting. there are approximately 400-420 coins in each album. The rack is suppose to bear some 150kgs

else i almost immediately put my coins in flips.. though It can be a long time before they finally go into an album. So In the meanwhile they go into boxes like these… the first one, I made those square holders myself some 15yrs ago.. The second one, I bought at my local coin club for $2 🤩

Why?

Should I conceal my pride and joy, just because some low lifes want to pinch it. Sick of this “Punish the majority” for the actions of a “minority”. Anyone steals my coins, they will have a hard time selling them to dealers as I will find the coins and ask who sold them to the dealer and I think most dealers would not touch them.

Also I live in the South island of New Zealand, not exactly a crimopolis like Auckland or New York. Our people here behave and have respect for property, its only a small group who are anti social criminals. Okay if you live in Compon, Brixton, Otara, Lower Hutt, Mt Druitt, Cabramatta, Mumbai, or a Maghrebi dominated Bosquet in Paris and any 3rd world country,  I fully understand.

Plus a bit hard when I have been splashing them over Numista since 2019. No one knows my exact address, the vault I store old in, is secure, has limited access and it has to scan my face before I can get in. I live in  Chch yes, but the urban area is 558,700 people - so their chances of finding me are limited and my collection is behind locked doors and in safes. Plus its easier to pull up an image of one of my coins rather than handle it.

@Moneytane , sounds like a nice and peaceful corner of the world.

On our continent we lately had the Gelsenkirchen heist.

That would be infuriating for anyone with a safe box. Has happened before, in 1971 in London, a bank vault was broken into and in addition to the usual piles of jewels and money they got, some rather revealing photos of Princess Margaret and other public figures were stolen and that led to pleas for them to be returned for big amounts of cash. They caught the thieves, but a lot of the money and valuables was never recovered.

I feel a bit safer as this vault is not connected to any bank or government agency and is run by a company that sells space in it and dabbles a bit with bullion. Plus they lease the space, so the landlord would be pretty furious and its surrounded by flat ground as there was an earthquake in 2011 and the land is not fully built back out yet. Finally you need 2 keys to open each box and my 2 copies of mine are here at home, so the theives would have to rob my place along with the vault.
