Hello, and I hope you are well! I am requesting another missing Southeast Asian sultanate be added to the catalog, this time Perlis.

Name: “Sultanate of Perlis”

Coins: None yet on Numista: https://www.zeno.ru/showgallery.php?cat=25122

Map Locations: Malaysia

Introduction: The Sultanate of Perlis is a small Malay Islamic sultanate located in the farthest northern reaches of Peninsular Malaysia. The small state was once under the rule of Aceh, Siam, and Kedah, but is today one of Malaysia's 13 states.

Format:

Malaysia

----- Islamic States of Malaysia

---------- Sultanate of Perlis

Malaysian Postal Orders are the only numismatic items currently issued in Perlis.

As my request clearly states, the numismatic issues of the Perlis Sultanate can be found on Zeno. There is no point uploading them when the issuer they belong doesn’t not yet exist in the catalog. It will be uploaded once this request is approved.

Additionally, Malaysian postal orders are not numismatic issues of these states, they’re numismatic issues of the country of Malaysia.

If you are not experienced or knowledgeable on pre-unification Southeast Asian sultanates, why do you feel the need to comment incorrectly on every single one of my posts?

Here's an example of a postal order issued in Perlis;

This is irrelevant to the current topic, can you please stop adding nonsense comments to my posts that muddy the waters and make the posts more confusing than they have to be?

The Malaysian postal orders you seem so obsessed with are completely unrelated to the issuers I am referring to in my posts. These are historic sultanates within Southeast Asia, NOT their modern day successors. Postal orders from these modern day states belong under the issuer Malaysia, not the pre-modern sultanates. This isn’t a personal opinion, but the rules of Numsita. Items produced within a modern country, particularly exonumia such as these postal orders, belong to the country at large. If this were not the case, we would have to make new issuers for every single US state for all the state-specific exonumia they produce. We don’t do that, because that’s ridiculous. The same applies for Malaysia.

Please stop adding nonsense to every post trying to enact change on the pre-modern Southeast Asian catalog, particularly as it is clear you don’t fully understand these issuers. I am not trying to be rude, but it is incredibly counterproductive and annoying when every post gets derailed.

@Reslumi , I am also on Zeno as well.

Here's my profile on there;

My area of numismatics in relation to Malaysia is from after coming under British rule onwards.

If your area of numismatics is explicitly NOT what these posts are related to why are you trying to argue? You don't collect pre-modern Southeast Asian sultanate coinage nor are you familiar with it, why are you trying to derail requests relating to them? Having an account on Zeno doesn't change that you're commenting incorrect information.

@Jarcek This is fair, actually. Changing the name to “Kingdom of Perlis” makes sense in this scenario. The use of the term “sultanate” in the description could also be changed to:

The Kingdom of Perlis is a small Malay Islamic kingdom located in the farthest northern reaches of Peninsular Malaysia. The small state was once under the rule of Aceh, Siam, and Kedah, but is today one of Malaysia's 13 states.

Done, thanks!
