Never say yes until you know how deep the puddle is that your about to step into really is.

So a friend who does a lot of dealing in all sorts of things asked if I would help sort some notes out…..

Yes I said …..thinking perhaps a a hundred or so would be the extent ERRRRR NOPE!!

The notes …. yeah 9 kilos in a huge bag and that's just the loose ones 😬

The rest are apparently in books and will be easier to deal with so I am told…. good luck to them on that one!

I may not surface for quite sometime. Already spotted a few things that are stunning, a lovely few specimens, some average things, some things that can be actually cashed in….. the mind boggles!

There are some in this lot I don't think I even knew the countries existed.

These notes aren't mine but I will check that there are photo's on here of all of them and measurements etc so that at least the will have been documented. 😁

Haha, you will be off the street for sometime…

...you can run,  but you can't hide...

Looks like left over money from overseas traveling. INO, I do not think they are worth much based on that conditions. Apart for European banknotes, I can see banknotes from NZ, Malaysia (R1 and R2), Singapore ($10) etc. Maybe the Cyprus 20 pounds may worth a little bid more. 😁

1.24 am and my brain is melting down, going to give up for tonight.

These are numerous collections plus left over currency.

I can't move in my living room there are piles of notes everywhere.

There is lots and lots of Notgelt heaps of Reich marks and things I will seriously have to look up like the strange fantasy notes… One Tivolino by Tivoli's Bank

At the moment I am just sorting out the rubbish anything ripped, stuck back together, been through the washing machine or written on is bin fodder 🙃

Oh and I have found one thing laminated …. who the heck laminates notes!!!! 🤬

Wow! Thats a cool bag of notes!!

Once upon a time there was a floor ……

There's a trash bag full of things that are not going to survive me going through this heap of notes….

I have discovered that the bag is obviously part Dr Who Tardis as its still half full 🤪

I got two hours sleep then woke up and thought what the heck carry on. I have a really huge headache and aching bones from hardly moving now so going to stop for a couple of hours and do something else. The right back on it later this afternoon this may take me a month of Sunday's as they say. Some items have made it past my “err that's trash” thought plan purely as I've not seen them before and so what if they have some creasing some kiddy starting their collection with few monetary resources might be glad of the ability to get something old and interesting to them.

Thought I would share this journey so the rest of you can see what's coming out of the bag its rather like a magical mystery tour around the world and back in time in a variety of banknotes I really like stuff like that.

Time for coffee … buckets of the stuff!!

This reminds me of the “surprise” my Irish buddy had for me (although his pile was a fraction of this).  It took me another decade (or so) but seeing his stash (of places travelled) started me on my slippery slope of World banknote collecting. It also made me want UNC because his examples were so soiled & mutilated (in my eyes). When I saw his stash, the first thought that came to mind was “less is more.”

I suggest you take baby steps: start out just grouping them into continents (or by shape/size) so you've got a few piles to sort. The big boxy German notes could be put together with the older French notes at first.  After you have the piles are done, then start to put them together by country (if that's possible) & perhaps an “other” category for those fantasy/laminated types. Don't let the odd “outlier” completely derail you.

Good luck, take lots of breaks, take your time  & have fun.
