Hello, and I hope you are well!

I am requesting the creation of the issuer “Rajas of Baglana” under the Mughal Empire:

Name: “Rajas of Baglana"(Alt. "State of Baglana", “Kingdom of Baglana”)

Coins: N#57058, N#64276

Successor: “Mughal Empire”

Map Locations: India

Introduction: The Kingdom of Baglana was an originally a Hindu Maratha Rashtrakuta kingdom of India that was situated on the main trade route between Surat, Daulatabad, and Golkonda. Under Akbar the Great, the Rajas of Baglana struck many small silver coins in his name as a semi-autonomous tributary state of the Mughals. In 1637, the kingdom was directly annexed into the Mughal Empire by Aurangzeb.

Format:

India

----- Mughal Empire

---------- Rajas of Baglana

Flag: Same as Mughal

These coins were issued in the name of Akbar, but were struck by the rulers of Baglana, which was not yet annexed directly by the Mughals and was semi-independent, and therefore deserves it's own issuer. The issues of the Rajas of Baglana are categorized as not Mughal proper by Zeno, SARC, and other major auction houses, so the coins of Baglana should get their own issuer and not be lumped in with the regular imperial Mughal coinage.

@Reslumi  how should the issuer for N#554528 be made alongside this one?

That coin is not an issue of the Rajas of Baglana, and would need it's own request page. Zeno seems to attribute them as anonymous provincial issues of Akbar in Gujarat, but that is a topic for a different thread; this one here is specifically for Baglana. In order to keep forum requests organized, you can create a new separate request for this coin if you want.

I am looking into it.

Probably we set up the issuer as Baglana.  If I understand correctly, coins were struck under the authority of the Rajas of baglana, but also referencing the Mughal emperor Akbar.

The rajas would be issuing authorities.

Separately I am looking at Coinwalla's request.

As far as I can tell, coins were only attributed to the rajas of Baglana during the reign of Akbar I.

If this is correct, then we could have as ruling authorities

- Akbar I (1566-1605)

- Rajas of Baglana (period; 1556-1605)

For the issuers including specific rulers (if provided), also include them, and their images , regards

Arnav

I could not find any named Rajas, so I have the ruling authority as the period Rajas of Baglana 1556-1637.  It appears to me that the coins all cite the name of Akbar, even posthumously (i.e. some coins dated AH1026 = 1617).  His name is also available as a ruler from a dropdown list of the Mughal rulers.
