This will be a pretty hard one, I have this 1934 1 yuan and (for some pretty obvious reasons) need help with authenticating and determining its exact type. From the few sources I have found I think it is the philadelphia restrike version, simply because of the thicker rim, but I’m unsure as the waves match up with the taiwan version. No pimples on any of the obvious locations, though the boat is pretty noticeably struck through. All of the parameters are correct, the edge looks fine so to me there seems to be no reason to be seriously suspicious of the coin (apart from the whole ”top 5 most faked coins ever” thing), please come with further insights and more info if you’re more knowledgeable than me in these types of coins.
Linking the coin would really help other members to help answer your question. I just did 2 searches, 1 for 1934 China = no coin, and 1 for China denomination 1 = 1373 results. This isn’t going to make me search for it any further….
So from not seeing the coin page, or any other examples, the one thing I can say is that one of the biggest giveaways to fakes is the quality of the rim. And the rim on your coin looks poor in 3 obvious aspects, from a Quick Look at your images, to be a genuine coin.

unsure why you weren’t able to find it with that first search. Also yes, the rim looks a bit strange, but comparing it to the few pictures I can find of the variant I believe to be mine it seems pretty close.
I see, personally I constantly confuse those two, maybe you should be able to pick a certain calendar instead of just any year on any calendar and gregorian year.

Make a suggestion in the website forum, I’ll vote it up 1.
Back to the coin, I thought the rim was not uniform all the way around, but I think now it just might be the angle of the images and the lighting. I also thought it was poorly formed in one area, again I think maybe it is just damage rather than a copy fault. The edge reeding also looks flat, but I don’t know enough about the coin to comment on this.
The rest of the coins details look authentic and the damage also looks authentic for its age, I don’t have any worries about its authenticity from the images now. Of course not having the coin in hand means I am not giving a definitive answer either way, but I wouldn’t be concerned if I was buying it. Which I’m not of course, I’m looking for the one with the birds!
As for the version, I don’t know enough about the coin in this case, sorry.

I'll stick my head out and offer another possibility. During that era the various Communist Chinese Soviets struck some Republican coins, particularly the Yuan Shi-Kai dollars and fractionals, in good silver. Some were even counterstruck with the Chinese characters for “Soviet.” This was needed in order to buy local goods when being caught passing Soviet coins could have ended in death. I have to admit I've never seen your particular coin presented as a Soviet re-issue so it would be extremely rare and valuable if it could be proven. These were always a bit cruder and with variations normally not seen, and are generally not published. I have an authentic (& a fake) YSK $ with the “Soviet” counterstamp and I have a YSK 20 Cents attributed to the Communists but without countermark. Here's a link to my Moneta Museum entry for these YSK examples:
Looking closer, the edge looks a bit suspicious, maybe a few more members can throw in some pictures of their edge?
Honestly, I won’t be too sad if it’s fake as it was bought for melt value at a sort of knowledgeable seller (though no one in sweden seems to know anything about chinese coins anyways) . Passed the ping and ice cube tests easily so silver almost guaranteed, almost passed it on as a fake for a month now because of the strange varieties until now. So it would be a happy surprise if it turned out to be real (which i don’t have high expectations in).
Also, the calendar thing seems good at first, but then you see the issue with either having to code it so that every calendar can search for every coin (why would you want that much confusion), or only a certain calendar and gregorian date can search for a certain coin (no change). It was a nice idea i threw out there, but unless there’s a way to fine-tune it to make it easier to work with, I don’t think it’s going to get added.
I’ve tried with another coin, no one in Stockholm seems to offer this service.
The closest one I found that sends coins for grading operates in Göteborg (Gothenburg) so no easy way to get coins graded for a reasonable price here in Sweden. 🙄

Men med “Illustrated Catalogue of Chinese Gold & Silver Coins”
I looked into the pcgs links a bit, regular strike seems the most similar. But there are still small differences that are nagging me, the waves look weird, the rim is still strange and pcgs’s pictures are annoying to work with as I can’t zoom in on them or download them in a good resolution.
