I have a 1933 Florian from New Zealand I want to know if it is a proof or a broad strike and approximately the values in US dollars here are a few pictures of it

You should have posted in the correct forum (not a banknote). Please also add size, weight and a picture of the edge.

Just call me Bram

No new swaps for the moment, still too many half-ongoing swaps to clean up!

The edge is not completely smooth

It weighs 11.28 g and maybe 27 I'm not sure I'd have to look back at the scale but here's a picture of it

Topic verplaatst naar "Coin identifications and valuations" (VieillePile, 13-mar-2026, 10:00)

That is still not telling me the value of the coin please let me know something ASAP it is 633 here in the United States Central Time and I've got things to do other than just today and I need to get just taken care of

Looks like a machinist or craftsman put this in a roller, perhaps to make a button or slug for some project or hobby. Not a mint error or proof.

Based on condition and the upside-down silver market I'd say this is worth a few dollars, certainly less than even “melt” value. This will go straight to a smelter but even then its a hard sell.

PS: before @King jumps down your throat, here's the coins Numista page:

TCon did you create an alter ego account (under the name Little2130) just to post a coin question in the banknote forum and wait for someone to argue with you?

Looks like your alternative ego wanted to be demanding;

„That is still not telling me the value of the coin please let me know something ASAP it is 633 here in the United States Central Time and I've got things to do other than just today and I need to get just taken care of“

Then 2 minutes later (after changing accounts) you try and drag me into an argument! Please don’t tag me in forum posts that I am not involved in, or as an attempt to belittle or shame me. If it isn’t a friendly invite to pass on some knowledge don‘t tag me.

@King your paranoia is showing. No, I did not create another account just to troll you, but you'll only believe whatever schizophrenic ideas feed your mania so c'est la vie.

No, I don’t believe anything TCon says! Especially as TCon always gets into arguments with many other members, at first I thought that there was just a lack of understand, but now I know it’s just intentional. I don’t want to engage at all with TCon, but here was a concerted effort to bring me back into the fight just so I can get called a schizophrenic maniac…. The mind boggles, especially under my tin foil hat… 😉

Hello and welcome to Numista!  You already got the answer on this coin.  Worth melt value only, approx. $15 only (less transaction fee).  Let's move on to your next coin (in a brand new post, please).

You don’t have to be sorry Dwayne, sometimes other members use other threads to start their own conversations or fulfill their own agendas. As one other member said whilst simultaneously dragging me into the thread, it isn’t a proof or error coin; someone hammered at the sides to produce those lips from the edge, so it has Post Mint Damage and collectors aren’t interested in PMD coins. Which leaves you with the bullion value of silver, however because silver is at a high price right now, bullion dealers and jewellers may not even give you the 13€ for the silver because it is a .500 coin, when the jewellery sell it on to get it melted there are extra costs to remove the copper etc. You might get between 5-10€ for it.

Well florins can be worth more than the silver price, it just depends on the condition; no PMD, grade (which is circulation wear) and mintage numbers or rare varieties or commemorative coins. If they are all New Zealand coins, this isn‘t overly my speciality - though I know all the silvers are .500, then copper nickel after the Second World War. New Zealand coins are quite rare in Europe so are more expensive (I guess actually they are quite rare everywhere other than in New Zealand). I Believe before they had their own coins they used the Australian ones in circulation, so if you have Australian Florins they might be .800 silver, these are also quite collectible but were minted in larger numbers. It all depends on the type, year & grade. Every coin is different from being worth less than silver with PMD to being worth 100€s, so you really have to take each coin one at a time.

There are many members on here who will help, you just have to find the coin page, click on „discuss or ask a question“ button at the bottom of the coin page, add some images and see what members think. Of course once you find the page there are many examples of past sales and the Numista price guide which might give you a good idea of the value. If you have no idea about the grade, you could just ask for help with that.

@King

You owe me an apology.

You wrongly accused me of creating a bogus account just to troll you, when in reality it was a new member looking for help after all.

Shame on you, sir or madam, shame on you!

That’s what i wrote above, word for word in italics; please note the word did in the sentence and the question mark ? at the end. It is called a question, an accusation would be written without the word did and without the question mark ?

You answered the question as no, so I know you understand that it was a question. However in all honesty I am still sceptical about your answer, and the user Little2130, but I answered respectfully and treated the question as if they are a different member. If they are a different member, so be it - I don’t need proof either way, and I am not bothered about continuing the conversation about it. What is 100% true is I do not believe anything that you write because you sound like a disrespectful and passively aggressive person who needs conflict in their life. (My opinion, not a question or an accusation).

And as I have said before and on many occasions, I do not want to engage with you, if the roles were reversed I certainly wouldn’t keep answering questions twice (first with an insult and then expecting an apology) or tagging you in a thread you weren’t even involved in. This is a perfect example (along with many others) that shapes my opinion of you.

@King

Perhaps you are less familiar with the English language than you would otherwise profess. Accusations are often framed as questions, and your attempt to explain away your accusations fails on every level. For example, in your reply (cf. above), you strategically omitted your other remarks:

Looks like your alternative ego wanted to be demanding;

and

Then 2 minutes later (after changing accounts) …!

That exlamatory statement clearly shows your intent to lodge an accusation against me in a public forum.

I'll check back in a few days for that apology.

Meanwhile, in your rush to judgment, you also insulted OP by (1) accusing him or her of being a fictive user and (2) by calling him or her “demanding,” when all he or she did was ask a normal question. Shame again on you, sir or madam, shame on you!

@little2130

You indicated that you have other coins you would like to evaluate. Please create a new topic for each coin. Photos of each coin would greatly help us identify and suggest values for those coins, and we may also suggest where to sell those items (most likely ebay).

Oh you do make me laugh! When a question is posed „did you“? any following statements are clearly hypothetical, irrelevant of the form of the sentence, ie declarative or interrogative.

However I am willing to accept that your understanding (misunderstanding) of my original question and hypothetical follow on sentences, as highlighted by your subsequent explanation of understanding (misunderstanding) of the English language above, may have led you to be caused harm and offence.

This I imagine is through no fault of your own, and if you apologise for calling me a „schizophrenic maniac“ I will happily apologise for causing you to misunderstand my post in the first instance.
