Token collector [1600-1899] with some coins

Thanks Zac for both this and the Chinese coins :-)

Couple of quick questions…

  • I assume what looks like a number 1 on the right side of the Arabic numbers is part of a different date to the one you've referred me to?
  • On the opposite side, there appears to be a different character in the top left to t1he museum piece.  Is this of any significance?

Again, many thanks for finding this coin so quickly.  I assume that it's not currently on Numista, so,I'll add it when I've got some spare time.

Your coin is dated 1287 with regnal year 8. I don't see anything looking like a digit 1 near the date, except perhaps part of the 7. The museum coin is dated 128x, with the last digit obscured by a Shroff (test) mark or countermark, and a regnal year of 7 (so most likely the X is a 6).

Note added later: this interpretationis incorrect due to a stray diagonal mark on the coin. See corrected interpretation by Higuera below.

AH 1281, year 8

N#58360

AH ١٢٨١, year ٨

Yes, Higuera is correct, as confirmed by the listing of dates and regnal years on the Numista page.

Many thanks all.
