Germany 1 Euro 2002-D: Major 180° rotation error and significant die chip on map

4 berichten • 119 keer bekeken

Hello everyone,

I would like to share and get some feedback on this German 1 Euro coin from 2002 (Mint mark D). I have identified a double error on this specimen:

1. 180° Rotation (Stempeldrehung): The reverse is completely upside down compared to the obverse when flipped horizontally.

2. Significant Die Chip on Map: There is a large area of raised metal on the map side, connecting parts of the map above the word "EURO" and around Scandinavia. It is much more prominent than typical minor die chips.

The coin has been in circulation, but both errors are very clear. Is this specific die chip well-known for the 2002-D mintage? I would appreciate any info regarding rarity and an estimated collector value for this double-error combination.

Thank you!

Oh god, that’s a horrible counterfeit.

the coin is mimicking this one: N#6322 but has the wrong date, not an error, not even pmd but a forgery.

Worth practically nothing, unless someone on ebay thinks it’s a fun novelty item.

Edit, the 2002 dated coin doesn’t include some countries in its map which this counterfeit includes.

N#111

:)

…und die drehenden Sterne würden auch noch eingebaut. Gab es die überhaupt 2002?

"I appreciate your input. To be clear, I'm not claiming this is a genuine error; I posted it here exactly because I'm not an expert and wanted to get a professional opinion on why it looks the way it does. I'm just a collector trying to understand the technical details, so thank you for the explanation regarding the map and the counterfeit characteristics.
