Is this a proof set - it looks good. It's in a frame and it looks like the coins have started to tone as a result of being in direct sunlight I guess.. I will take pics of the obverse tomorrow if required ?
I think it surely has proof coins in it, Not sure if it's a proof set though

I'm not sure what you mean ? If it has proof coins in it's a proof set then ? I don't know; I'm still sorta new to this set stuff ha. I'm planning on going to tonyk1965's tomorrow; if he's in I'll take them and get his professional professor opinion ha !
Looks proof to me, especially with the matte finish on the centre coin

Generally proof sets are accompanied by certificates and clearly mention "Proof Set". I don't have a proof set from Falklands so not sure. From the photo some coins do look like proof coins, but you can't be 100% certain.

See one of the 1982 proof set from eBay (yours look very much similar though).

I hope it is then because it'll have the silver liberation crown. :D With it being framed I guess that's why there is no certificate; I think I got it off a house Clarence guy or something like that !
Mark's just left here, it's definitely a proof set, it's a shame someone has gotten grubby finger prints on a couple of them. But all in all a very good purchase m8
Clarence House?! Ha ha! Perhaps the certificate is behind the back board of the frame?

Yeah, perhaps you could try taking the back off it to check if it's easily accessed
This is a proof set.

The coins in the set may appear to look just brilliant uncirculated, but proof sets issued for the mainland are identical in quality to these Falklands coins.

Better pics although not fantastic - still haven't got my camera.

The question now is then is the crown silver like some people including tony have said it may be ! I need to know if the Cu-Ni weighs less ? As NGC do not have the weight for that one. :(

28.28 grams for the silver one m8, call in if you can't get it weighed and use my scales
Cool - I'll see what my scales can do lol
I've got a spare set of digital scales, just need a battery. Yours if you want them.

0.01 Phil ? The only ones I have are 0.1 scales so not ideal :( I would love them if you could :D

Sorry Mark, I don't think the weight will help you. I've got many Cu-Ni Crowns and £5 crown-sized coins and they're all 28.28g

That is what I was thinking rick, hence why I was asking the Cu-Ni weight in case it differed. :S How else am I gunna check ? Maybe I should just give up - I'm happy anyway lol !
Do a search on the forum - I know testing for Silver has been covered a few times before

Yeah I've tried the magnet and have also tried the ice cube it doesn't seem to conduct very fast but the newer Canadian dollars I have don't "/
According to what I've read Krause lists it as km#ps5  5k mintage and silver crown
