This only weighs 2.2g and very thin. Could it be a dime planchet?

Welcome to Numista.
No sorry, not a mint error at all. What I see is a after mint alteration of some kind. For what purpose, nobody can say for certain but perhaps a button or a magicians prop?
It's too large to be a dime planchet and is copper colored on the surface and silverish colored on the inside the opposite of what a dime planchet would be. Harry is right. Just a post mint manipulated penny. And ugly, too.
IDK man.,.. the spot on the back is a small portion of the shield that's suppose to be there. Not sure what a dime core material looks like, guess I look that up. But zinc doesn't look like what's shown on front….and the back is smooth except for that one spot… no grind marks. Thanks for the input. And it's only 1.14 mm bigger, and it's thinner than a dime…but I can't measure the width.
Actually it looks exactly like a worn zinc obverse core with a very fine coating of copper where the copper is worn off almost completely on the bust which happens to be the high points and first to wear. (97.5% zinc - 2.5% copper)
There is no mystery here.
Those spots are sunk in, not worn off. Even if that were the case explain the back having just speck of the shield in the middle and weighing only 2.2g and thinner than a dime.
I dont have to explain anything more than I already have and nodody can tell you exactly how it got this way and why. This much is certain, it is worthless now, not even worth the one cent it was originally worth, and certainly not worth any further discussion or response on my part. Good luck with your “major error”.
