Proof?

Hey there!
First of all, I'm new to this website and just love it! Thanks!
My question is, what does it mean when there is a "Proof" comment next to a coin to add to your collection?

I have a 2001 10pence UK coin and as I was adding it, I noticed that.

I'm sorry for opening a new topic with a probably silly question, but I couldn't find the answer anywhere.

  High quality and really shiny - made individually from polished dies.
Usually kept in individual holders. Once seen never forgotten basically.

 There are two Search buttons on here - the one on the left is looking for coins; the one on the right on forum pages is looking for previous topics (there are many about proof coins).
