It cannot be Irish as there is no harp on the reverse.
That UK coin is 28mm - what size is your coin ?
Approximately - a farthing is 23mm and a penny is 34mm size.

1/2 penny 1738 ? I use the Advanced Search for coins like that; in
Year I put
1738 and if it measures 28mm I type in 1mm either way to make sure - so rather than put 28 in the
Diameter box I put
27-29 there.
