But I didn't recognize it as 'prooflike' in the first place. And both obverse and reverse show many tiny scratch marks which betray that the coin circulated some time. It didn't receive the attention it was destined for at birth. Poor thing

Yes - and I am glad they do, as quite a few of the French medallions and plaquettes I have in my collection came from UK sellers (so cheaper postage for me).
