Help verifying S'pore $1 coin

I bought the following coin in Singapore and was wondering if anyone else has seen similar coins. I have searched on every forum I know but have been unsuccessful in finding anymore copies of it.

The photos below show the coin in question (in the middle) next to the 1986 $1 and a 2011 $1.

The 1997 coin is almost identical to the 2011 one except for the color and the size. It is slightly larger but it even has the inscription around the outside edge that is found on the 2011.

Anyone have any info on this coin? I am quite curious to know where this fits in my collection.
What does it weigh? Is it magnetic?

If it has the right edge, it is most likely an electroplated coin, but what you said about the size is interesting. With the weight we could tell you more about whether it's an off-metal strike or not.

Do not argue with ignorant people .. !! They will drag you down to their level, then pulverize you with experience ...

Well, it isn't magnetic, and not only is it slightly larger in diameter, it is also slightly thicker than the normal ribbon downwards $1. I don't know the weight as I don't have anything to measure with.

Another interesting point is the conch shell located between the Tamil and English script.

Thanks a lot for this info. So this is the coin I have?
Oh! A silver proof never occurred to me... In Canada you are not supposed to take them out of the sets they come in so you never see them loose like your coin is. Awesome find, did you pay $1 for it? (8
But how could it be the silver one if Your coin is bigger and in catalogue stands that silver and normal coin have the same diameter?

Check my doubles ;)

I paid around $1 for it. I don't the exact price of the coin because I bought several coins and a couple of sets and then bargained for the price for all.
I got a nice 1997 Hong Kong UNC return to China set and a Somaliland Chinese zodiac set, as well. All nice coins.

I was mistaken about the size. I compared the silver one to 1997 UNC $1 and they are the same. I still don't get the addition of the conch shell on the silver coin, though.

It's probably the privy mark.
