Talk about anal! It's so ludicrous they probably will prosecute, like the British Royal Mint did when an artist painted enormous poster-sized bank notes!

you can post pictures of your own coins. Otherwise how could anyone ever sell anything on E-Bay? I'm pretty sure what is protected against is the use of the design for private commercial use.

I think numista would fall under the "fair use" doctrine, at least in US ... research, education, doesn't damage the copyright holder, not for profit, etc...
