I was given these by a friend. Are they real or fake?

I've got some idea of the final verdict of KennyG for these empire dollars :D

I got one of the fakes when I first started collecting, they all seem to have subtle differences, mine was "He Peh" province where as the real coin is "Hu  Peh".

I see these everywhere, but they can be pleasing to the eye, even if they are fake.

if it's Chinese and supposed to be silver....99.9% of the time they seem to be fakes, that's why I don't touch them.
There are many ways to test whether a coin is silver.
The safest and simplest is the "ice cube test" :8D

Much more simple is the 'ring' test

Some fakes are silver though.  If it's a really expensive coin, worth hundreds of dollars then often the forgery is done in silver too.
Thanks for all of your help!!!!

Even more simple is the magnet test (or just a look at the reeding on the edge)

Definitely all fakes, we did it Numista!

Indeed Kenny, but most of the fakes are non magnetic.
I have a little collection of these fakes and only two are magnetic
