i have a beautiful old coin : 6400 Reis Maria I & Pedro III 1782 that has been turned into a brooch (unfortunately). Is it a particularly valuable or sought after coin i.e. does it have any value other than it's gold weight value?
Welcome
a picture would be helpfull
There is a letter after the date : R or B

The letter is R. Hopefully these links lead to pictures!
Thank you for replying.

indeed very nice coin.
but the damage (brooch) takes a lot of the value

So presumably the only value is it's gold weight/melt?
Considerably more than melt, but probably 2 grades below current grade
