It would be great if personal comments field could be marked either "personal use only" or "to view by anyone".
Sometimes we need to put a comment about the coin for ourselves to remember something about it, but if we are also doing swaps then people looking our swaplist may think it's about swap coin and it can create a lot of confusion and we do need a chance to note comments for just our own use too.
What do you, others think about that idea?
And is that possible to do Xavier?
For some coins I'd want to put note for only myself and for some to potential swap partners, so it should be "tick box" or something, not for all coins at the same time same option only.
I have suggested a similar thing to Xavier, years ago. The idea is to have 2 or even 3 comment fields !!
1) personal comment to be shared in a swap (this is what we have now)
2) personal comment - private
This can be used for individual inventory listing, or where do I store the coin, who did I get it from, how much I paid, whatever have you...
... let us dream further:
3) personal comment#3 - your value of your own coin, you could add a numeric value just to yourself, totally up to you how you evaluate your coin! (in whatever currency you want) ... - then you could just export it to excel, and bingo, use the SUM formula in excel and you have your collection's value ... (this SUM could be applied within Numista as well without the export, but maybe we're asking too much)
I also believe it is not a rocket science additon ... let's see what Xavier thinks, he seems to be alive these days!
I don't think that multiple comments fields are a good idea, in my opinion Numista needs to be handy to work with but also as basic as possible. I however agree that it would be a great feature if individual comments can be marked private/public.

Personally, I would not find that very challenging, specially if we could disable them.
... And yes there will be people who misuse them, but it is their problem, as it is today they misuse a lot of fields. Just yesterday I have reviewed a Hungarian coin with a year, and found that 3 people own that year, which is - according to literature - is a unique piece in the Hungarian National Museum. God Bless them, they shall be very rich to have one!
As for me, I would even pay to Xavier to introduce the #3 personal field, with my own values.
One other comment related feature I was asking at some point was a private message I could add to a swap. I personally would put my postage price in there, or bonus coin(s) I have included in a swap (so I don't send the same one as a bonus to the same person).

I do all that on comments field on this person profile page. There is a field for comments that is only seen by you, not by anyone else. So I usually write there all that info I need to remember about a swapper.

Ah, good point. I guess I've been underusing that personal comment so far. Thanks for your suggestion.

Sometimes I feel whatever I say is lost is translation.
But from what language to which? ;(
Lol, imreh, what got lost to whom?
I think your 3 comment field suggestion is great also. It would be good to have the option.
Xavier, have you noticed this thread yet?
You can simplified this problem.
Using [*...*] is private and all others are common.
Example:
Testing 1234 [*Private message*] further comment.
The user could see : ""Testing 1234 [*Private message*] further comment."" -> so the whole text (including the "[* *]".
All others could see : ""Testing 1234 [*...*] further comment."" -> so only the common tekst with a indication that parts are unavailable.

I trust that the personal comment field on my profile says "Urbane, polished, eloquent and kindly English Gentleman" and not something mean. I get enough of those :(
Non illegitimis carborundum est. Excellent advice for all coins.

Thank you!
hehehe, actually there is no comment on your field:) I remember you without that too:)
I use those comment fields when I trade with someone otherwise unknown to me:)))
