Hello numista members. I need your help. I will admit, I am not a coin collector, I HAVE a lot of coins, but I am not a true collector. (My specialty is antique furniture and fashion items, so you can understand why I'd be lost when it comes to coins!!!). I have searched high and low for ANY information on this item and talked with at LEAST 20 coin stores in the state of Texas. Nobody seems to know anything.
This is the only site that has even acknowledged the coins existence, but sadly doesn't give any real information other than a picture of one in bad condition, the dimensions, and a 97 on the rarity index. The coin I'm talking about is a miniature 5 reichsmark. Mine is in much better condition than the one in here, as it still has probably 90% of its "silver" plating. It is dated 1937, like the one here as well. That's it. That's all I've got to tell y'all unfortunately! I have been on some other site as well, coinquest I think? But the person said it was only a "child's-token" therefore worthless. However anyone with even a small amount of knowledge of nazi germany knows that toys, and well, ANYTHING else with the swastika on it was MASS-produced, especially for kids. If its so "worthless" then why haven't any others surfaced? Absolutely any Information will be GREATLY appreciated. My main questions are:
What exactly is it?
Is it indeed from 1937?
What was it used for?
And of course, what is the value?
I know this is silly, but I fear I may have something that is SO "rare" nobody will be serious when it comes to appraising it due to apparently just a total lack of info and interest.
Please numista, help me!!
