The Shouwa 62 mint set, with the rarest year for 50 Yen and 500 Yen coins.

You won't believe I got this set by paying only 440 Baht (~ 13 USD ~ 12 EUR). I won an auction for this item in a Facebook group.

I was once give up for 50 Yen coin of year Shouwa 62 because the coin cost 1000++ Baht. I am very happy for getting the whole set into my collection.

Also, not long time ago, I got 2 reeded 10 Yen coins from local market. After I inspec them at home, one of then is 10 Yen Shouwa 33 -  the rarest year for 10 Yen coin - I had paid only 10 Baht for that Shouwa 33 coin (~ 0.3 USD). I am so confused why many reeded 10 Yen coins are found in Thailand. I got one each Shouwa 27, 28, 33, and THREE pieces of Shouwa 29 - SIX pieces in total, but find no other old types of Japanese coins.

Anyone has experience like me? Getting rare coins in extremely cheap price or randomly buy the coins and found they are the rarest year of the type.

That's a nice find. I know Japanese sets aren't cheap. I haven't had too much luck in getting rare coins yet. I would say my two best are not too rare. I  bought a 1939 Latvian cent in great condition for .25 cents. I also found a 1915-s U.S. Lincoln in a lot. It's about a $25.00 coin.
I once got a 25 p1867  Finland in g condition for 2.50e
The most recent I can remember was a 1/16 Real (Jalisco). Saw it at the foreing exchange store where they never have more than 100 coins for sale. Was in the 50 Pesos (3.5 dollar) bulk; which most pf the time contains coins of less than 1 dollar worth. But that one was in XF which moves for aroun $80 when found at internet auctions.

A lovely 7-coin New Zealand 1978 Proof set.
The sunlight is fading so will replace those above with better images tomorrow. The fifth image is a scratch on the case.

As for mint sets got these two recently:

A mint Proof set; the only currency Proof set ever made here in Mexico, with less than 7,000 made. Got it for 1,200 Pesos ($80), the average had been 2,000 Pesos ($130) so far, so when I saw it at -40% couldn't resist. Also it is from the earliest ones, with a CoA number under 0800:

Also, the same day got a currency Mint set for 2002, had been looking for this one for ages, as it is almost the only way to get the 2002 5¢, as it is very hard to find it, and was the only missing one from my year set (as well as the Proof which I got on the other set):

With these 2 sets I completed my year list for all those coins, except obviously for the 1, 2, 5 and 10 Pesos that are still being made every year in that same type. But with the Proof set I complete the Nuevos Pesos year list and the Centavos coins, as those aren't made anymore (5 discontinued and 10, 20 and 50 changed type).

You two got good sets. I like them.

I wish Thai Mint produce some proof set of circulating coins.

Excellent find. I've had an endeavour 50c since I was a child of about 7/8 and it always fascinated me. I think it could even be one of the more under-appreciated designs. It was that coin that first started my coin collecting because I couldn't understand why our queens head was on a coin from NZ ! Seeing this one now makes me want a proof one :)

That's my birth year, perhaps I should try and get one of those  ;)
Got a new Heisei 27 [2015] Mint Set yesterday. Also 2 Reeded 10 Yen coins when travelling in Japan from my friend. Why many old circulating coins go to him? If I had not told him about the reeded 10 Yen, I would have had a very low chance to get them from circulation. Also, He found no duplicate coins of which I posess, so the remaining reeded 10 Yen for me is Shouwa 32.

I got a great mint set yesterday, but I'm thinking of splitting them:

I'm not an expert in any kind of coins, but I reckon I'm good at research and will do my best to help. Feel free to tell me my identifications/valuations/gradings are wrong. It's the only way I'll learn.
I wouldn't if I was you, they're worth more as a "hole" set :)

Now this one would definitely go into the set of most funny posts on Numista. I think rating system should be in place for people to be able to see this easier in one spot.

Nice coins everyone, I am not impartial to sets myself. My last was the 1902 proof set, but one of my favourites is this one.

This 1953 Proof set, same cases as the British one - in better than average shape and with its original tarnishing cloth.

Like someone else showed, I have a proof set from my year of birth and lucky for me, it was cheap as it was the last year a non silver dollar was included.

Ignore the 1969 coin.

I love coins. Especially silver, gold and anything really old.
