Decimal coins of Cyprus - 1955 to 2007.

The decimal coins of Cyprus from 1955 to 2007 need to be listed in 2 sections;

1,000 Mils = 1 Pound from 1955 to 1982.

100 Cents = 1 Pound from 1987 to 2007.

Aidan.
Because Cyprus changed name or why?

Ole,
The currency system changed in late 1983 from 1,000 Mils = 1 Pound to 100 Cents = 1 Pound.

Aidan.
Aidan,
Since the two different denominations were not running in parallel in the same years, why complicate things with two sections? Why would it be better, more precise or more accurate?

It is not complicated,Ole.

It is a bit like the Pound currencies in Ireland & the U.K.,which had the Pound as the base unit.

Prior to 1971,the Pound was divided into 20 Shillings,& 12 Pence in 1 Shilling - or 240 Pence = 1 Pound.

After 1971,the Pound was divided into 100 Pence.

Aidan.
Aidan,
there you see, you brought up the best example of all, IRELAND. Ireland is NOT split into TWO sections, so why should Cyprus be split, there is no reason for it at all.

As you can see Ole, Ireland IS split, even in FOUR sections in stead of TWO.
But maybe you make a wrong interpretation and you think he wants to split Cyprus into two country entries in stead of two sections within the same country?
OK, I see what you (he) mean(s), but I still don't see the necessity of doing it? Have you also split the European countries according to before and after the introduction of the euro? What does it bring me as a user of numista?

He means two separate currencies, for example Ireland has predecimal, decimal, euro. Cyprus would be exactly the same, we wouldnt lump together euros and shillings, would we?
