If we were to count all coin eras available in Numista’s Brazil’s catalog, we could find 10 eras as follows:
1-Early colonial Real (1654-1790)
2-Guilder (16th century-1817)
3-Real (1790-1942)
4-Cruzeiro Antigo (1942-1967)
5-Cruzeiro Novo (1967-1986)
6-Cruzado (1986-1989)
7-Cruzado Novo (1989-1990)
8-Cruzeiro (1990-1993)
9-Cruzeiro real (1993-1994)
10-Real (1994-date)
That depiction is inaccurate. Here are the corrections:
1-Era #4 “Cruzeiro Antigo”. That is not the proper name of the currency. The currency name is simply 'Cruzeiro'.
2-Era #5 Cruzeiro Novo. That era does not range from 1967-1986. It only ranges from 1967-1970.
3-Missing Era. In total Numista should have 11 eras. Brazil has had 3 currency eras called 'Cruzeiro'. The first one is #4, the third one is #8, but Numista’s catalog is missing the second era that should be located between eras #5 and #6. This era, also called 'Cruzeiro' (the third area called 'Cruzeiro') goes from 1970-1976. The coins from both 'Cruzeiro Novo' (Era #5) and the next 'Cruzeiro' (The era that is missing) are clumped up together under 'Cruzeiro Novo' (Era #5). The 'Cruzeiro' era that is missing was approved by the Brazilian government by the following law: “Resolução do BC nº. 144 de 31.03.1970”.
