Adding Vietnam - Empire

Would like to hear the opinion of the members. China - Empire is separated from Republic and People's Republic, for several reasons:
  • complete change from absolute monarchy to republic
  • completely different currency or coinage
  • historically different eras

If these cases exist for China, should we do the same for Vietnam? I've worked on Chinese and Vietnamese coins for a large majority of my time on Numista, I feel like the same should be done for Vietnam now, especially due to the expansion of imperial Vietnamese coinage on the site.

Yes, do it
South Vietnam was also nominally a monarchy until 1955.

Prior to the French taking over, the country was known as the 'Empire of Annam'.

I agree with separating Vietnam.

Would it be correct to continue this discussion to the neighboring countries such as Laos? Should there be separate pre and post communist countries? The coins have completely different reverses:

Should we also separate Cambodia? It was a French protectorate and then became an independent country.

Thank you
I would say no, mostly because the currency remained the same. In the case of Vietnam, it was a change from centuries-old cast cash coinage, to modern milled coinage.
