Dear all,
I think I have found a big mistake in the catalogue. As you might know the Netherlands has given out VOC coins (from 150-1800), but these were valid in all the Dutch colonies. So in the Netherlands East Indies and all the others (like Suriname and South Africa). In South Africa, after the Dutch lost power the VOC duit stayed there until the British introduced their new 'coins', and thats the same for all the other colonies. Only the Duiten from after 1816 till 1840 are really from the Netherlands East Indies. So I think that all the VOC coins should be placed in another country, named VOC Netherlands, Dutch Republic, Colonial Dutch republic or just VOC.

One of the main reasons why the VOC duiten are diffrent than the Dutch is because 1 stuiver=8duiten (normal) but the VOC has 1stuiver=4duiten.
Note: The Netherlands also had the WIC (=West indian company), but they didn't gave out their own coins.
Who agrees with me?
Kind regards
Jelle
