I was happily going about my business yesterday when all of a sudden everything changed. I went to buy a drink and was handed back a coin that did not look like a good old kiwi coin. I had a closer look and found I had been given a USA buffalo nickel as change.
I was just recovering from the first assault that evening when I went to the supermarket. My boy always checks the vending machines for money and he came up to me saying "this looked like a 10 cent coin but it's not" I shuddered as I took the coin to confirm my suspicions. There I was with a USA penny in my hand, with Lincoln staring up at me, mocking me.
The first invasion was when the USA soldiers came over here to train before going to battle in WW2. The catch phrase from the locals here at the time was "The US troops are over paid, over sexed and over here"
I'll let you know how this current attempt pans out. I went to get a coffee this morning and the girl at the counter said she had received some US coins and a US $1 note yesterday too. There was a cruise ship in yesterday so that probably explains the influx of USA currency.
