Quote from the page: £5 coins are the UK's flagship coin. But since 2012, the Royal Mint has stopped offering them at face value. Instead you have to pay £13 for a new £5 coin.
We believe that £5 coins should be available to the general public at face value via banks, post offices and coin distributors and not just from the Royal Mint for £13.
Please sign our petition to bring back the £5 coin for £5.

I'm not an expert in any kind of coins, but I reckon I'm good at research and will do my best to help. Feel free to tell me my identifications/valuations/gradings are wrong. It's the only way I'll learn.
We don't have any circulating £5 coins, but places like Jersey and Guernsey have £5 coins that can be bought for £5 from The Royal Mint or The Westminster Collection for example. But the UK £5 coins can only be bought packaged for £13.

Germany is making commemorative silver coins at face value since decades. France joined the move as well. That's stupid from UK to turn back in mainland, moreover in base metal coinage... Agreed!

Just realised I forgot to put this in the first post.
I think it's only open to the UK, but The Westminster Collection has a draw going, they have 1000 of the 2016 90th Birthday £5 coins available for only £5.
Probably reducing my chances of getting one, but I'm hoping the karma will return!

I don't have any time for the stuff peddled by the Westminster Collection but I have signed the petition.
I doubt if I would start again now but I did collect all the £5 BUNC issues until 2012 when they started to get too expensive and they produced so many as to reduce their appeal.
Just because you can't see it ... doesn't mean it isn't there - Anon.
