Hello Folks
Just in case anyone happens to be in the area it's worthwhile calling in to the museum in Market Harborough to see the Hallaton Hoard of Iron Age coins found in the last few years at Hallaton, a small village not far away. I spent half an hour today gawking at the piles and piles of gold and silver coins mostly dating from between 100 BC and 100 AD. They are very well presented and explained, and there are over 5000 of them! And , yes, I really lusted after them, and I only wanted one or two, ....or three... or....
Citeer: "Quant.Geek"Are any for sale? Usually with hoards, some of them are released to the public. I would be interested in one or two of the coins
I shouldn't think any are for sale. They're safely tucked away in the museum. But they are all so beautiful, even though many are tiny. Hallaton was some kind of sacred site and the coins are offerings from all over Britain although the majority are Corieltauvi.
