Hi, my dears.
Could You help with them? Are they from Africa? Guy which sells them, told they are from South Africa, but South African expert said that NO.
Maybe You know?
Note: Same from another side
Thanks in advance
What were they used for ?
The first slot machines appeared around 1890. On 1902, the legislation changed, the law no longer allowed the distribution of cash earnings. In order to continue their profitable business, slot machine manufacturers then skirted the law by distributing gains "in nature" i.e. no cash: they distributed to the winners sweets, cigarettes or "tokens to consume".
The "token to consume" could not represent more than two to three times the bet. The setting itself should not exceed 10 cents. Another requirement for clients: earned tokens had to be consumed in the establishment where the slot machine whereabouts ... These machines were installed in various public places such as bars or carnivals.
Citeer: "Frenchlover"You're right

Thanks Frenchlover! very nice web with a plenty of those consomemr jetons,
but...
All of them has a word " consommere", and I havenot found in that catalog any from these ones.. Maybe because of my " no-French" ?
Consommer... However I didn't find those. Normally the category should be "France - Consommer Tokens". Maybe try to check only the values (0.40, 0.50...)

I tried to check from all side - no result.. cannot find exactly these tokens...
Even extending to the whole token section? Sometimes, some tokens may be misclassified so they can have been moved to other section...

My main interest was if these tokens were from Africa or not. As I understood from French side, - NO. So, I willnot then buy them. Seller asked $7 for all. And in case of they would really from Africa, it would be nice price for 10 tokens.
THanks to all, special thank to Chomp-Master.
