I pulled 44 coins from everyday circulation on the Las Vegas Strip during my visit on 21-27 January 2016. Here are some things I learned from studying them.
The oldest 10% were from 1986 and earlier.
The median date was 2011.
Coins dated 2015 were 32% of all coins.
82% of the coins were from Denver, and 18% were from Philadelphia.
Copper cents accounted for 10.7% of all cents.
As with most tourist-heavy areas, the coins are younger than average.
CENTS:
Memorial (copper) = 3 (11%)
Memorial (zinc) = 10 (36%)
Shield = 15 (54%)
