Many Isle of Man coins are listed as non-circulated?

To whom should I address this concern? There is no ref. A lot of the base metal listings are improperly listed as non circulating coins. And I mean base metal denominations in addition to the base metal crowns that circulate.

Absence of the referee does not mean requests are not validated from time to time. Feel free to sumbit those requested changes.

I always understood that only the regular 1p to £2 coins circulated. Are these Crowns issued at face value?
Probably not more recent ones like Harry Potter for example. But all the way through the early 21st century. The virenium 1,2, and 5 pounds as well.

Do they circulate or are they just issued at face value? Apples and oranges.

The base metals were issued and released on the islands at face value. They were also packaged and sold to collectors not on the Isle of Man. The base metal crowns are circulating coins and have been up for rewards for exhibits of circulating commemoratives at prominant coin conventions such as the ANA annual convention. the virenium pounds and two pounds were the first circulating pound coins in the region. They changed composition when Great Briain issued their circulating pounds and two pounds. A member of this website published an email from a government official on the island that details among other things, that certain Numista team members were wrong when they valued Isle of Man crowns at 5 pounds, when they all are valued at 25 pence. The same email specifically mentioned the circulating 5 pound coins of Man. She did concede that people save them. But they do that everywhere. They do in the US with dollar coins. You cannot say that the copper nickel Eisenhowers were not circulated. They were released to circulation. The silver Eisenhowers? I can agree are non circulated. The same with Isle of Man. all precious metal issues were never designed for circulation. I remember as the century turned how the numismatic press covered the story that the Isle of Man government even gave every school child on the island the new millenium crown.

I have been a specialist in Manx coinage for close to twenty years. I know a thing or two about my area. The catalog can be corrected and enhance the listings, making for a better website, or it can remain as is, wrong and amatuerish, and contribute to the other ridiculous things here. Just my two gunyahs.

So submit the changes, give out some proof (so you wont get rejected - and your work would go in vain) and rework them all. B)

When you have proofs of your saying (I do not know anything about them) you wont get rejected of course. :)

Oklahoman,I think that I may be your problem, as I listed them and within the comments part of the listing, I added how MY coin is. So it is either UNC, Proof, UNC in First Day Cover or some other comment. It was not meant to be how all coins of a type were issued.None of the referees have ever asked about these comments, so I assumed they are OK.If it is wrong, then I will stop doing it.Again my apologies.

Oklahoman,I rarely get to the USA now, but I fully agree with you on the Isle of Man coins. I have always liked the crowns as they depict a great deal of various subjects.Getting hold of the modern coins, post 2010, is extremely difficult even though I am very close to the island.I have been to the Isle of Man and really enjoyed the whole time there. Great history. I even have an Onchan internment camp coin, which I have great memories of. My other favourite IOM coin is my mule coin, KM#57a, which I bought in London many years ago. I bought it for under 2 pounds. The guy thought it was copper-nickel, but it turned out to be silver. If you are ever in England, I also hope we could meet. I live in south west England, about 10 miles from Bath.I have a set of IOM coins on my swap list, but they are expensive.
