Shilling James I - but just which KM# is it?

I have this coin I recently bought at an auction in a box with several others. It's the star of the show, and the reason I bought them, but it is identified as being a Spink 2654 dated 1623/24. Now, having acquired the KM catalog for 1600's, I thought it would be easy to find correct KM# number and then enter the coin into Numista - but alas - there are so many variants of the coin that I'm really confused.

I'm thinking it must be the KM#26, going by the description of James's beard, but this contradicts the little information I had about the coin from the previous owner (which of course could be wrong).

If anyone else has access to the 1600's KM catalog and is willing to give me a second (or third...) opinion, it would be appreciated. Otherwise I'm not sure if I dare enter it into Numista's catalogue...

I would also say second coinage KM#26, looks like the one in the catalog and the 3rd coinage sounds quite different.

Isn't it just? I'm curious as to how you would grade it. I'm really unused to hammered coinage. Would it qualify as VF, or is that way over the top?

I have only 3 hammered coins myself so I don't claim any proficiency in grading them. I can only work with what I see and the little I know about them.
The VF grade lies within the realms of possibility ... your coins shows many details and on some places what looks like wear can also be the result of a weak strike. A further problem with hammered coins which are very thin is that they might not always be plain and with that can have different highpoints that lead to uneven wear so you cant always compare even two coins from the same or very similar die.
But you should wait for an opinion from a member with more experience with these types of coins.
