I bought this coin for $10.00 dollars. So I hope I made a better deal. I am hoping it is at least fine.

coin collecting is fun.
If it is this one, nice buy

Looks Fine to me.

The reverse is definitely a solid Fine. A VF coin should show the full Union Jack flag on Britannia's shield along with each finger being distinctly separate where they grasp the spear. There should be more detail on the helmet, particularly the raised visor.

The obverse is much better and the actual portrait (and main focal point, so extra points) is only lacking a few more details on the wreath to be very much Very Fine. However it's let down by pretty poor rims and the partial loss of the legend at 4 o'clock which is more characteristic of a VG coin.

Overall it's a really nice Fine coin and $10 is a fair enough price, full market value. When a price isn't quoted for a particular grade (as is the case in the link kindly provided) it usually means that there isn't much of a demand for such humble offerings from major auction houses and dealers. However eBay and second tier dealers will happily supply these all day long. As a very rough guide you can divide the price of a VF coin in half to get an approximate value of a Fine coin. So in this example FMV would be $10 F and $5 for VG. In the case of coins with a precious metal content, the actual bullion value provides a floor below which you will be lucky to beat.

Thank you for the question regarding UK copper which is my abiding love and gives me the rare opportunity to participate in this particular forum.
Non illegitimis carborundum est.  Excellent advice for all coins.

"Thank you for the question regarding UK copper which is my abiding love and gives me the rare opportunity to participate in this particular forum." Thanks for all the information-I will certainly refer to it in the future. I really like British copper and other British coins. I also like American copper and I am working on a U.S. type set.

There are two versions I know of with this year. I cannot make it out in the pics, look at the 1, does it look normal or does it look like it is a capital " i " instead. ?

Normal is average value but the latter version is valued much higher.

I love British copper and have many Fine, VF, EF and unc examples. Here is two examples of Farthings I personally grade as a Good Fine for this one.

This one I personally grade as GVF

Of course there is a possibility I am wrong with the grades but either way, I love all British copper so it doesn't matter if I am wrong. :`

I'd say you're about right on the two, although the rim dings on the VF coin are rather unfortunate
I was a bit miffed when I saw them, only because it is something I can't fix. :O

I knew this was true of the later design of Britannia, but it is good to know that these rules of thumb hold true for the earlier design as well. Thanks for the tip!
